OutcomesIT in rural areas

OutcomesIT has been working with Nacosa and TBHIV, both NGO’s treating key populations, for several years. These NGO’s offer opiate substitution therapy to injecting heroin users, many of whom have concomitant infectious diseases.

OutcomesIT has a specific module to cater for these programs.  Doctors are able to prescribe and monitor dosing for opioid substitution and infectious diseases. Nurses can screen patients, and a multi-disciplinary team is able to view progress on the OutcomesIT system.

OutcomesIT can be used both in urban and rural settings. In rural settings, OutcomesIT, via mobile phone connectivity and mobile units, offers the same care to patients in remote regions of Southern Africa.  This program has proved remarkably rewarding for patients, especially for those patients where there is no ability to access hospitals or nearby regional clinics.
